Wireless charging

Wireless charging (A4WP)

Back in  2012 Samsung, Qualcomm and few other big names announced formation of Alliance for Wireless Power (A4WP). Mission statement was “To enable wireless charging of Mobile through a partnership between the Alliance for Wireless Power and the backers of Bluetooth“.

In 2013, the participating companies released a promising video:

Along with an optimistic statement, quote:

“Apple is all in, Microsoft is all in, and now Android is all in,” Jawanda said.

In 2014, the Alliance announced that the standard has been modified and improved, changed name to Rezence (Resonance and Essence). The organization announced that Fujitsu, Hon Hoi (Foxconn), Lenovo, Logitech, Panasonic and Intel are joining.

At Computex 2014, Intel reps stated that future hardware will be manufactured without power plug at all as the charging will be done wirelessly via Rezence.

In a quick search I have found at least 4 high-level executives sitting on board of Alliance for Wireless Power (A4WP).

My actual question… it’s mid 2016. Any progress?
