I’ve noticed that many of my less tech savvy friends, owners of iPhones, are asking me about WiFi assist feature and all the recent drama that surrounds it.
Guys, it’s quite simple, no reason to panic.
What is WiFi Assist?
WiFi Assist is a new setting in your iPhone, which is enabled by default (I believe it was rather a mistake to do so by Apple). In a nutshell – if your iPhone notices that your WiFi connection is slow – it switches to mobile data. As a result, your mobile data consumption will increase, and if you are not on an unlimited data plan – it may generate additional charges. If you wish to disable this function – go to Settings > Cellular. Then scroll down and tap Wi-Fi Assist. This is it. No conspiracy.
