
The WannaCry ransomware is a crypto worm (also known as WannaCrypt Puchu,ref name=”microsoft releases”>MSRC Team. “Customer Guidance for Wanna Crypt attacks”. It targets Microsoft systems encrypting data and demanding ransom payments in the Bitcoins. See image below.

According to various sources up to 230,000 computers in over 150 countries are infected. The worst-hit countries are Russia, Ukraine, India and Taiwan.

How to make sure you are not affected
A “critical” patch had been issued by Microsoft on 14 March 2017 to remove the vulnerability in supported systems. Make sure to update your system.
