Facebook drone crash triggers an investigation

Facebook’s solar-powered, internet beaming drone Aquila was launched  after two years of engineering and scale modelling. Facebook announced that a full-scale version of Aquila made its first official flight on June 28th remaining airborne for 96 minutes during which the ground crew tested modules from the autopilot system to the aerodynamics and radios.

The National Transportation Safety Board has revealed that it’s investigating the incident, which it considers “substantial” enough to be treated as an accident. Details aren’t available, but according to statements there wasn’t any damage on the ground.
